We Attend The “Solo: A Star Wars Story” World Premiere in Hollywood!
We had an incredible opportunity to attend the World Premiere event of Solo: A Star Wars Story in Hollywood. The event took place on May 10th and we made a day of it! We were lucky to be the guests of an incredible friend and decided to go all out by arriving in our best cosplay. Nguyen was dressed as a Jedi, Selena as Han Solo and I came as Rose Tico. (Prior to the event, we went out to do a photoshoot. See that by clicking here!)
When we arrived at the venue, the first thing we saw when coming down the stairs of the Dolby Theatre was the top of the Millennium Falcon just casually sitting in the middle of the street. We navigated through a crowd of excited pedestrians to the line where guests were waiting to get onto the red carpet. Shortly after we were escorted behind the barriers on the street and into the stands. They had two separate areas for fans to gather on each side of the red carpet and we were situated right next to the center stage. Emotions were running high by this time as we excitedly waited for the stars to arrive.
After the crowd was entertained by Chewbacca and a couple Stormtroopers, the red carpet slowly became more and more crowded as familiar stars started to arrive. Throughout the afternoon, the cast came through and greeted and signed autographs for the fans. Some of the celebs we saw included: Ron Howard, George Lucas, Alden Ehrenreich, Joonas Suotamo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Paul Bettany and Jon Favreau.
Other celebrities we sighted included: Peter Mayhew, Ru Paul, Mario Lopez, Chris Hardwicke, Rian Johnson and I’m sure there were more but I can’t think of them at the moment! Whew!
So for me, I was most excited to see Donald Glover. Shortly before this event, he released the iconic “This Is America” music video as Childish Gambino just the weekend before and as a longtime Gambino fan, this was a huge deal for me. Naturally, being a nervous wreck, my selfie with him was a little… off center. I still love it though.
Another favorite moment of mine was seeing Ron Howard and George Lucas come down the red carpet behind Alden Ehrenreich. The three men caught up with each other right in front of us!
After the red carpet festivities concluded, we were escorted off the red carpet and into the TCL Chinese Theatre to watch the premiere of the film. Now, I won’t share any spoilers but being in a room with a bunch of die-hard Star Wars fans, I would say that the response was overall very positive.
We ended the night with a chance to take photos in front of the Millennium Falcon which was still parked on the street. Thank goodness. Without the crowd and festivities, we were allowed to take as many photos as we wanted! Naturally we had a blast and it was a fun way to finish a crazy day!
